Driver Rehabilitation Services
Bloorview MacMillan Centre (BMC): Driver Rehabilitation Services
The Bloorview MacMillan Centre offers driver rehabilitation services to help people who have physical, cognitive, emotional or developmental disabilities to achieve or maintain driving independence. Their services meet the needs of two groups:
- People who have experienced an illness or injury (such as a stroke or an acquired brain injury) and need help to return to driving, aging drivers, and those who have a fear of driving.
- New learners who cannot obtain a driver’s license through conventional driver education programs – for example, need for a modified steering wheel, or specialized instruction.
The Ontario Health Insurance Plan does not cover driver rehabilitation services offered by the Bloorview MacMillan Centre. BMC will work with clients to identify other funding sources; otherwise clients are required to pay for their services.
