EmployABLE 2008 – An innovative employment event for youth with disabilities

EmployABLE 2008 is presented by Mazemaster / Youth@bilities, The Scarborough Centre for Employment Accessibility & Bloorview Kids Rehab

Event info:

When: Friday November 7th 2008
Where: Bloorview Kids Rehab

Times: 
     Morning session      (8:30am - 11:30am) for youth 14 - 18 
     Afternoon session   (1:00pm - 4:30pm)   for youth 19 - 35
     Lunch time session (11:30pm - 1:30pm) open to all youth

  • Please note that from 11:30am to 1:30pm, there will be some amazing presentations scheduled in addition to one-on-one support from employment experts
  • Lunch is not provided but a great cafeteria is at the event venue. 
  • Open Studio – Creative Arts Centre
  • 10:30am - 4:30pm – Look Your Best!
  • Get tips from hairstylists, TDSB’s Hairstylist Apprenticeship Graduates and check out great fashion for work

    SickKids hires employees for various areas in the hospital.  Nurses, Professional Services (Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapist etc), Finance,  Lab staff, employees for Commercial Services (Tim Hoton’s, Starbucks, Burger king Shopper’s Drugmart etc), Patient Service Areas – cafeteria, janitorial, patient service assistants.

    Various customer service positions are available at all Home Depot’s across the GTA.  Previous cashier and retail experience is an asset.  Must be able to work various day, evening and weekend shift.

    An opportunity for students (14-21) currently in school and who are labelled with an intellectual disability to think about their interests and future and connect with various people (with and without disabilities) and places. The goal is to get the ball rolling around what students might want to start to work towards for their lives after high school (employment, volunteering, civic roles, etc).
